SYSTEMS ENGINEERING AND OPERATIONS CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

• Defining interfaces and requirements for Boeing support of the GPS Modernization Program.

• Boeing Digital Cinema Program integration of satellite transmission and theater presentation equipment.

Spaceway Business Group direction of Hughes Network Systems Network Operations organizations.

• Defined requirements to include DVB/ATVEF features into DirecTV-Latin America long-range plans.

• Supported the successful launch of the DirecTV-Japan program's "InteracTV" services.

• Developed requirements for DirecTV-Japan, DirecTV-Latin America, and DirecTV broadcast centers in Ibaraki, Japan; Long Beach, California; and Castle Rock, Colorado.

• Software engineering at DirecTV/Sony's test and proof of concept facility in San Jose, California.

• Program Guide delivery systems during the entire life cycle of the DirecTV-Latin America program implementation.

• Interface Control Documents utilized to integrate the software developed for all of DirecTV startup programs.

• Uplink RF and Receive Service Access control systems for DirecTV at the Castle Rock Broadcast Center in Colorado.

• HCI Satellite Operations Process Study of activities, needs, and processes to establish an advanced HCI OCC.

• Information needs for the Hughes Space and Communications Group Information Systems Study Team business model.

• Video Time-Share Reservation System (VTSRS) to support HCI automated transponder reservations.

• Integrated Computer Aided Manufacturing Definition (IDEF) Methodology in for GM factory automation projects.

• Installation of a Defense Data Network gateway for the National Test Bed (NTB) in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

• IR&D studies on multilevel security methodologies and encryption standards for distributed computer systems.

 

SATELLITE COMMAND AND CONTROL

• Space-ground compatibility testing between the Consolidated Space Operations Center (CSOC) Mission Unique Software and the EHF Payload for the UHF Follow-On program.

• HCI Satellite Operations Modernization Study to migrate the ground system architecture to advanced workstations.

• Advanced Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (ATDRSS) proposal, to define the operations concepts, and ground support software architecture for NASA's Space Network in the ATDRSS Era.

• NAVSTAR Global Positioning System (GPS) Operational Control Segment (OCS) Residual Tasks proposal.

• Ground control software architectures for UHF Follow-On Proposal and the DSCS III Follow-on Study Proposal.

• Responsible for requirements analysis for the TDRSS ground station.

• Several Hughes military satellite programs, including systems engineering for onboard attitude control systems.

 

INTEGRATION AND TEST

• Integrated software for DirecTV, DirecTV-Japan and Galaxy Latin America programs.

• Tested the Uplink and Receive RF monitor and control systems at the DirecTv Castle Rock Broadcast Center.

• Test proposals for Universal Rectifier (UR) image processing system, and testing of a classified C3I system.

• Responsible for test planning and evaluation on the Polaris and Poseidon inertial guidance systems.

 

IMPLEMENTATION PLANNING AND PROPOSAL PREPARATION

• Advanced Multimedia concepts to include DVB/ATVEF features into DirecTV-Latin America/Japan long-range plans.

• Defined software and integration requirements for HCI's Galaxy-K DAMA Network.

• Proposal for Manufacturing Technology of Next Generation Workstation/Machine Controller Architecture (NGC).

• Consolidated Space Operations Center (CSOC), and Control Center Implementation Contract (CCIC) establishing the Controlled Mode at Johnson Space Center and Kennedy Space Center, to support classified Space Shuttle flights.
