To the right is one of the projects I have been involved in.
The Customer wanted the Paint Cure Oven installed over an existing building at his site. This would have required at least a large boom truck for setting the heavy members, as well as working over the tin roof of existing production areas for several days. I saw this as a saftey concern as well as a waste of time and manpower. After a careful assement of the job, I elected to assemble the oven structure at ground level and raise it into position over the building with a truck crane.
The lift was accomplished with a 165 ton Liebherr. In under 2 hours with two men, the approx. 25 ton frame was set and tack welded in position on the eight 12X12 tube steel columns, and the crane and riggers were out the gate. Using this method allowed for faster assembly and welding of the framework as well as saftey for the assembly crew and the plant personal inside
In the pic above right, one of the interior columns can be seen through the door of the building. This one and three more penatrate the roof and four more are outside the building . Click and mouse over for more photos. |
