| We'll start off with a few Dayton pics, mainly of there well know Skoda-ETIs!These buses came straight from the Chek republic (how ever you spell it). They came over in 1998 via container ship in peices and was put together by ETI (Electric Transit Incorparated).By early 1998,all 60 Skofa Model 14TRs where on the streets of Dayton until frame crack behind the front wheels formed. These were cause by the switch in battery pack position from the middle to the rear.thats almost 10,000 pounds of batteries sitting in the rear. Some of the buses had there battery packs removed while others had then relocated once more to the middle. As of today, all 60 Model 14TRs remain in fill service. These buses are powered by a 183hp General Electric traction motor producing 1,350 pound feet of torq from stand still all the way up to 2,100 RPMs( or 40mph). these buses have a max speed of 45mph but are governed to 42mph. Here's no. 9801 PHOTO sitting at the West Town hub on a Route 8 lay over. Also here's no 9818 PHOTO on a specail run, tracking the 7 route by Watervilet Ave. Here's a group of SKodas resting at the every hour bus line up on Third and Main. Theses buses, which were shot on Third St , are running the 1,2 and 4 routes with a 1997 NovaBus RTS II 35 footer on a cool summer's night in 1999.PHOTO | |||||||||||
| These are the only Valley Metro pictures i have so far on this site. These two are very special and demand to be posted and see by all. These pictures where takin by a well known driver by the name of Mark L.W,one of the top and highest standing drivers at Valley Metro. Here's PHOTO of a 1991 Gillig Phantom 3596TB, no 9101,kept clean and running mean (now retired) by Mark. This shot was snapped at the Louise Gal Lay over point at the end of the 71 route. This bus and its retired brothers are powered by a Detroit Diesel DDEC II 6V92TA producing 256hp. transmission is a nice shifting and noisy Allison HT-748 ATEC of 4 gears(sounds like 5). The next bus is that of a 2001 Gillig Phantom 3596TB,powered by a large 285hp Cummins ISL-285E,this bad boy really rocks it down the road. Transmission is a Voith 864.4ADR of 4 gears. It also has a very loud retarder whistle when bus is slowing down or stopping. This here's bus no 0101,PHOTO kept clean and mean by Mark. Another suprise are the last of the old Gilig Phantoms. These were built in 1994 and sport a Detroit Diesel DDEC IV Series 50E engine of 275hp connected to an Allison B500R ATEC of 5 gears. the first one is what we call, the Lottery Bus because of the wrap that on it. Its slated under the numbers 9401. ?The second on and the most weirdest sounding Gillig in the fleet is also a 1994 model dubbed "the K92 Bus" because of the Radio station's wrap scheme. the wrap has been upgraded and and will be added to the collection soon. |
