Magic is an easy skill to level up on. It brings you up combat levels, so I do not recommend a good magic level. If you don't level it up (also no prayer) you are considered pure.

To use magic, you need runes. From left to right on the picture, fire, water, air, earth, mind and body runes. There are also more rare runes like nature, law, cosmic and chaos runes which are not found in the rune store in Varrock.
