Onie
Onie grew up near West Liberty, 6 miles west of the Johnson-Muscatine County line.  Although she did not reside in West Liberty, Onie attended the West Liberty school.  After she married, her and her husband ventured west to California.  After several years, they decided to return home to West Liberty.  Onie has lived in West Liberty ever since.

Onie has three children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Besides being a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Onie has always given to others.  She has been in the caregiver role many times, taking care of both her mother and her mother-in-law in their old age.  She has also provided care for other friends as well.  Onie has been involved in several community groups including the Widows Club and Muscatine County Extension Board.  In her spare time, Onie enjoys playing bridge, painting, reading and cooking.

Onie volunteers for the RSVP RIDE program and is a member of the RSVP Advisory Council.  She has taken several aging courses and has always had an interest in serving the aging population. Onie said volunteering is an important part of the community.  She enjoys when her services make someone smile- at that moment, you know your volunteering is worthwhile.  Thank you Onie, RSVP would not be successful without volunteers like you!
