Bev is no stranger to West Liberty. She grew up in Muscatine County (8 miles east of West Liberty) and has lived in West Liberty for 37 years! Bev has two daughters and one son. Before her retirement, Bev was a nurse. Her background and training as a nurse has fueled her desire to volunteer. Nurses are trained to help people and that is what volunteering is all about.
When Bev is not volunteering for RSVP, she is reading, quilting, playing bridge, or busy at her church. Bev joined RSVP in August because she was already volunteering in the community and was hoping to join an organziation that provided opportunities for volunteering. Bev currently volunteers for the Depot and the RSVP RIDE program. Bev enjoys meeting new people in the community and volunteering for RSVP provides an outlet for this type of interaction. She also looks foward to learning new things from the elders in the community.
When asked why others should volunteer, Bev stated that we are put on this earth to help each other. Shc also said that the rewards are overwhelming. Thanks to Bev for helping to make the community a better place! |
