PhotoStudio Editing
1) Open the balloon photo in Photo Studio (PhotoBase photo folder).

2) Click the
Rectangle Select tool. (Click on the tool once)

3) Visualize the area on the image that you want to
keep. Move your mouse to the top left corner of that area; Click and drag the mouse to the bottom right of the visualized area.
  
If you mess up, just click and start making another box.

4) Click
Edit menu; select Crop (or crop tool--scissor).
Cropping
Resizing/Resampling
Resizing is used to change the size of specific selected areas of images.
Resampling is used to change the size of entire image

1) Using the same
ballon photo, try resize and resample to see the difference.  Both options are found under the Transform menu.

2)  When resampling an image, you can change the image dimensions one of two ways:
    (a) Change the
pixel width and/or height. Maintain the aspect ratio, only one value needs to be changed
         (the other will adjust accordingly).
    (b) Change the image
size by percentage.  Percentage scales are set at 100; change to a new value
         (example: 50%).
