I don't really care.
Kain was born on a small farm near the port town of Baroness. He was the fourth of five children. He had two older brothers, who were twins, and older sister and and a younger one. So where did a simple farm boy find the inspiration to travel the world as a warrior? It happened one spring day.
Kain, having just recovered from an illness was allowed to sleep in before going out to work in the fields. On his way to where his father and brothers worked, he lost his footing and fell into the fast running river that crossed the land. Kain can rember little of this but remembers being rescued and finding an old longsword left behind by his rescuer. He took the sword hoping to find his savior and return the blade. He named the sword Cassie's Heart after his younger sister
A retired Knight by the name of Zander Black lived in Baroness. Young Kain brought the blade to him. Black, interested became interested in Kain. Farm life had made Kain strong and fit, and black could see that the young man had a flare for adventure and a lust for life beyond a simple farm life. Only one question remaned: Could he be taught to use that blade he found. Black seemed up to the challenge.
Black besieged Kain's parents to allow Kain to live with black and train him in the ways of swordskill. Reluctantly his parents approved and Kain began to train. Kain showed little inate skill, but was always tireless and worked vigilantly under the harsh unyielding tutoring of Zander Black. If Black was impressed by Kain, he never showed but that was just the old soldier's way.
Soon it was time for Kain to be away, to leave Baroness in search of the one who saved his life. His parents disliked this concept, but were unable to interfere.
Kain traveled to the land of Rhydin, a land that was a crossroad of adventurers. Only after arriving had he realized he had a stowaway in the form of young Cassie. They arrived at the town's famous watering hole, The Inn of the Red Dragon. He told his sister to sit down and be quiet. He spoke to the innkeeper about a room. He was gone from his young sister only a minute when he heard a scream in the night outside. He rushed out to see his little sister dead, a dark man bent over her body. Kain drew is sword and issued words of a challenge, but the dark elf ran into the night upon seeing Kain and others take arm
He returned the body to his parents. His parents were mortified by the loss, but his older sister Carol, was outraged at Kain's recklessness. They shared words that cut both deeply, so much it would be years before they spoke again.
Once back in Rhydin Kain ment a man named Zorro, often called Psi by his friend due to his inate powers of the mind. He worked for one of the smaller orders in Rhydin called the Pradesh. The group had a camp in the nearby woods and Kain was welcome to stay. Many friends and faces had sprung from this time. Kain improved upon the knowlege of herbs that he had learned at home and honed his skills of observation by, spying is such a harsh word let's say observing and misleading those who might be enemies of the group.
All the intrigue the group wraped itself in backfired. Someone hunted them. Many of the group fled or just disapeared never to be heard again. Kain feared his own life and with no one to turn to, he too went on his way. After spending over a year and a half in this land, ducking his enemies and seeking his friends. he departed one night, in search of lands unknown and perhaps a reunion with one of his clanmates.
Kain ended up at an inn called Weary Traveler. He found a small cabin for sale nearby. He had made some friends in this area quite soon. He often thought of Rhydin, his family at home, all that he had left behind to get this far. There are many people and many tales that could be told here, but only the most significant can fit the space (and the attention span of the reader) given here.
Kain met Victoria one evening at Weary Travler. They hit it off from their first encounter and the two fell in love. After a few months of courting Kain was ready to propose to her, but not before he went home and made piece with his family. Kain did return home, proposing sucessfully to Victoria the night before he left.
Kain returned home and all ill seemed forgotten. He saw his niece Kay for the the same time. Her mother, Kain's sister, apologized for the way she had acted in the past. One visit to Cassie's grave and one brief prayer for forgiveness later and Kain was able to tell his family of the good news that had befallen him.
Kain was married to Victoria and they had a daughter named Summer. Kain and Summer were never close and many things eventually caused Kain and his once wife to split up
Kain became allied with a group from the realm of Toril called the Silverblades. He came to their aid when he could and his continued adventuring is one of the things that led to the breakup of his marriage. Although they were all his allies he had different opinions of the those members he knew. Once of the founders, Frederick Westlake, was the first member he met. To Kain, Frederick has always seemed distant. He also met Frederick's wife Mysteria. Gypsy by hartiage, Kain has always desired to speak with her more, but she is often cold and quiet. One he always seemed closer to was a high ranking member and a Paladin of Helm, named Sir Fleetwood. They have battled against those who have threatened peace within the area around Weary Traveler. He often traveled between Toril and the the inn's realm, often leaving his wife Jasla behind to worry. Kain has never made much of a comment about what he thought of this, most likely due to his lack of success in the marriage department.
As Kain's niece grew she felt the same longing to be gone from the farmlands that plagued her youngest uncle. She ran away to see Kain. She desired her uncles help to find somone to teach her magic. Once of Kain's enemies a mage named Garriott captured Kay. Rather than be used as bait, Kay used gave her soul up to garriott. Kain made a deal with a dark power to return her niece. Later this dark mage, known as Pherexious, killed Kain and made his spirit a servent. Fountunatly friends of Kain were able to reverse Kain's condition and destroy Pherexious
A friend of Kain and the blades, Waarl, was turned to evil by an unknown power. Hoping to get close and save her, Kain pretended to be interested in joining Waarl. Eger to sway a silverblade waarl agreed and granted Kain a keep in the forest. Waarl later became normal again, by no act of the silverblades. Kain kept the keep and decided to put it to good use.
Before he could put his plan to action Kain had to return home for the funeral of his father. In Baroness he found someone who could get him some troops to man this keep and the stategic mind to make it work, Zander Black. Black raised a small following to aid Kain.
One of the men chosen by Kain was Josh Caspian. Kain personally trained Josh as his squire. He trusts Josh and sees him almost as a son.
One Evening Kain's men found a injured elven girl She was attacked by something later identified as a vampire. The girls name was Phoenica, a princess of evermeet supposedly thrown from her kingdom for being spoilt. Kain took pity on her and offered her a position in the keep. she refused to do basic work, but she reluctantly accepted a position of lookout on the keep walls. At first Kain thought of her as a spoiled brat, but came to delevope stronger feelings for her.
It soon became obvious that black and Kain stood for different things. Black was upset that he now bowed to his old squire. Black wanted the keep and took most of the men into mutany to get it. They left the keep, with only a few remaining loyal to Kain. Risking her life and another attack by the vampire, Phoenicia volunteered to head to Cane Hazot, an ally of the silverblades and fleetwoods grandfather-in-law.
The aging mage sent Kain troops led by Fleetwood's wife, Jasla. Phoenica was grievously attacked, but thanks to Cane she did recover. These two acts changed his mind about the old mage who before he did not trust. The presence of the troops, greating outnumbering all that black had gathered, kept him away.
Kain recieved a challenge to meet Black and settle this personally. At Jasla's urging Kain refused this request. Jasla and Kain both agreed that a conflict between the two groups would end in their favor, but two them there were no "acceptable casualities" for either side.
Jasla came up with a different plan. She pretended to attack Kain and get herself thrown in jail. She was allowed to escape with someone who would lead her to black's camp. Initially she planned to kill him, but she just knocked him out and brought him back to face trial. He was found guilty and executed by a paladin of Torm named Nomte.
During this time Kain also discovered the real reason Phoenica was expelled from her homeland. Her father wishes her to marry. She blatently refused, threatening to kill herself. They expelled her to these lands hoping that Cane Hazot would aid them in convincing her. Fortunately no one ever told Cane of this and then the vampire showed up to plague her
Cane dislikes Phoenica's father's decision, but also frowns upon the growing romance between Kain and Phoenica as well. Kain told Phoenica what he had learned and was devistated by it.
Kain found out that it was a vampire that had brought Phoenicia running for shelter. He learned that this vampire was named Brandon and Kain had fought him many times, but always the vampire survived on there last battle Bradon swore to flee if Kain spared his life. Kain left him, glad that the vampire was apparently out of the way.
Black was gone and so was the vampire Brandon. It seemed that peace would come to Kain, but it was not so. Something of great importance cast the gods of Toril from their homes, thus limiting the ability of priests and making magic an unpredicable mess. During this time, An evil from times past captured Frederick Westlake, and Kain was brought in to help with this problem. The Search took the Blades accoss the heartlands of Toril and in it's conclusion, to the plains of Limbo and Mechanus, where they finally reunited their leader with his worried wife. The search for Frederick was hard and may have driven stakes into the unity of the Silverblades, their families and the allience with house Hazot, but finally Kain and the others can put their own lives in order for now.
The man who Phoenica was told to marry arrives searching for Phoenicia and Kain. Kain meets with the man, an elven pyromancer named Krassos. He met with Kain and tried to kill him, but he escaped. Also a attack was launched on Kain's keep, but was repelled by magical defenses. Krassos is responisble for a brutal attack on Kain's niece, the death of phoe's father, and the dissapearence of her brother.
Finally the battle on Toril and beyond is over. Kain returns to his keep, to recieve darkest news. Krassos has somehow been allied with Cane Hazot and an attack on Kain's keep is forthcoming. Kain has also learned of the return of Eris, Phoe's brother. He is upset with himself and with Kain for being gone. He casts a shadow over Kain's plans, but does not stop him from proposing to phoenicia.
Hardly a day after Kain's return the attack comes. By folley Kain and Phoe are captured and brought to Krassos at Hazot Keep. Krassos feels he has the upper hand and tries to break the both of them. Kain must watch helplessly as he punishes phoe for "running away" and promises to make an example of Kain to show her what happens to those her betray him.
By the grace of all that is good, Cane Hazot manages to resist, helping Kain free. Kain, only armed with a dagger, rushes off to rescue his love and, at least for now, drive Krassos from Hazot keep.
Phoenicia's recovery from the incident with Krassos took one month. After this Kain and phoe return the keep, hoping that now after all this they can have some measure of peace. Alas, for cruel fate and reality know better than to believe such. A set of events pose more trouble for Kain and his Lady Love, but also show love can endure many hardships.
Phoenica is stolen away in the night by her brother Eris. Eris is caught trying to go out a window, he tries to fight of the Kains men and they seriously pummle him. He dies of these wounds many hours later. At questioning Eris seems more or less unaware of what his is done and mutters about a rat. Two bite marks are found on the neck of Phoenicia after this incident and a large tailless rat is seen outside her window.
A tracker by the name of Storm, who Kain rescued from the servatude of Lord Krassos, comes to Kain's room, and tries to kill him in front of Phoenicia. Although Storm was supposedly crippled after a scouting mission to the Krassos occupied Hazot keep, she stands quite well and manages to move, until Kain kicks her in the knee.
Phoenicia and Kain finally give into their passions and spend the night together in romance. The next day Phoenicia goes without Kain to put her brother to his final rest. Those with Phoenicia report that a group of forest elves helped her with this and phoe acted "different" after returning from staying with them.
While Phoenicia was away Kain was able to talk with Storm, who seemed to be suffering of having two personalities. The orginal Storm warned Kain that Krassos was very much after them all and Brandon the vampire is not to be forgotten. She also says that Krassos and Brandon are foes, but she fears they may strike an allience. The likes of Brandon and Krassos together is a starting consept one that poses a great threat to Kain and his livelyhood.
