| Mike Allred's comic Madman first hit shelves in 1992 with the following comic picture above. The independent comic book artist and writer has also done some work lately for X-force, and started a series called the Atomics. Which unfortunatly ended with only 15 issues. Personally, I believe Allred's Madman comic is very hermetic but with no doubt his best work. The storyline is appealing and the humour is very funny. Not as vulgar as some comics portray but still hits the spot when reading. Just as the title shows, "The World's Snappiest Comic Magazine!" which is true to the very end. My favorite mini-series for this comic is the G-Men from Hell which is a four part series where Madman fights a evil, evil man named Monstadt. Two G-men by the names of Crept and Mattress who leave hell to perfom good deeds on earth get mixed up in the ordeal and end up helping Frank(Madman). You also find out Frank's real name in the series as well. It's very addicting to read and makes you want to see what happens in the next issue. AAA pop comics are the comic label and recently Allred hasn't done anything new with Madman. He quotes that after the G-men from Hell series was over that was it with Madman. It's been two years and the only thing Madman has shown up in is the Atomics. Is it really over for Madman or does Mike has something planned for the witty crimefighter? The future can only tell the fate of this beloved indy comic. |
