Welcome to Spody.com!
Ya mon! Here are some pictures that Betty and I took during our weddingmoon in Negril, Jamaica. Please note, you can click on the individual pictures to bring up a larger version. Grab a Red Stripe and enjoy the sites!
The beach in front of our room. The big boat in the distance is the Jolly Mermaid. This is just a small part of the infamous "Seven Mile Beach".
Betty on the swing on Booby Cay beach. This is the only offshore island near Negril. You can see the main island in the background. We paid a guy named J.R. to take us here in his boat. He used a bucket to bail out water as we cruised along. We had this island to ourselves for a whole hour. To ourselves except for the cat the lived on the island that is!
The world renown Pickled Parrot on the cliffs of Negril. If you look closely, you can see someone jumping off the cliff and into the water. This was the destination of our cruise on the Jolly Mermaid. As we strolled along the beach looking for souvenirs, the Jolly Mermaid left us. We had to take a taxi back to the resort. Jamaican taxi rides are an experience in themselves!
Presley's Bar. We promised this guy that we would put him on the internet. He's holding bananas while balancing a pineapple on his head. He's located across the road from the Pickled Parrot, check out his place for all of your shopping needs. Be prepared to haggle though. Our haggling with him caused us to miss our cruise back to the resort on the Jolly Mermaid. Hey Presley, can we get a Red Stripe for the road?
One of the Rockhouse villas. The Rockhouse is a hotel on the cliffs. All of their rooms are huts like you see here. The boat in the foreground is a glass bottom boat.
 "Smoke on the mountain"
The Jamaican countryside. That's a sugarcane field in the foreground. If you look closely at the hills, you can see smoke from a couple of fires. Much respect to our "Main Mon" J.R. for taking us on the countryside expedition that allowed us to see some of the "Real Jamaica" and made this picture possible.
Look out below! Here I am jumping into the Caribbean from the deck of the Jolly Mermaid. This was my first time snorkeling. The water was unbelievably clear, I could see the bottom with ease.
One of Negril's notorious sunsets. Every day at this time, all activity stopped, and people flocked to the beach to watch the sun melt into the sea. We took this picture from our balcony.
