I have some more pictures of the future "Dirt Beast" as I have started calling it or maybe I ought to call it the pain in my butt beast. Seems like everything I try to do to it, it does not want to comply. I have so many new cuts and abrasions that I could start my own "Band-Aid" factory. Anyway, more about the Baja that I am trying to build. I have put this project into overdrive, Because I may be moving and I will need to have this thing back on the ground before I do. So, here we go... I made a trip to Oklahoma City and bought some parts for the bug that I have been needing from a place called "Bethany Imports" and I deal with a guy by the name of Ron who knows his stuff. He will help out and give advice on what ever you need to know. I picked up the nerf bars, rear bumper and Bug Pack exhaust, window rubber, pan gasket, brake hose, hood hold downs, just to name a few. Then came home Monday and Tuesday went to Amarillo and picked up pan from BajaDragon, that he was so kind and gave me. What a guy! He has got to be one of the funniest men I know. He bought a VW Pickup and has had more fun with it putting it back together. I can email him and ask a question and he always has a great answer. He definately knows how to build on a budget. The Baja is getting closer to being back together now, I have got the pan ready to put back under the body. There was a small area of rust in the battery tray that I have repaired. I sprayed the pan with a rust converter, I could not get my hands on any POR 15 here in town so I used what the auto parts place said was nearly as good. I then bought some spray on Rubber Undercoating and sprayed the top of the pan and the bottom. It turned out good and I believe it will help with the rain and snow to prevent further rusting. Plus it is said to help deaden the sound. I bought and installed a new mastercylinder and will have to replace the wheel cylinders and brake shoes at a later time. For now I just need to be albe to roll it around. |
