MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Residential Safety Program at Stony Brook University is to promote safety in our community by providing various services to enhance the safety experience and educate residents and the university community about their responsibility in our community as whole.

The focus of our mission is to develop active individuals with the passion and desire of making the transition to becoming safety advocates for our program and most importantly, to benefit our community. The primary focus of our Residential Safety Program is to aid and assist the university community in the foundation of enhancing each RSP team member's natural potential by raising the awareness in general and allowing him or her to be leaders among their peers.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The Residential Safety Program is a professional and student managed organization that promotes safety on campus. The RSP staff consists of professional staff and students who live on campus just like you. They are in undergraduate, graduate, as well as doctorate programs. The RSP team consists of 300 dedicated individuals who are concerned and understand the need to have an established safety program for our community. RSP provides a Walk Service for students who do not want to travel alone on campus. Furthermore, RSP patrols both outside and inside the buildings that you live in. We also report and assist with any problems that may arise. In addition, RSP also provides desk monitor service within the residence halls. Their purpose is to check in students and their guests. All around, RSP is here for the well being of the the community.
