| I have the infamous Carter BBD on my CJ. It gets a lot of bad press but I have to admit mine isn't that bad... Maybe I am one of the lucky ones. Now it is still a carburator - I much rather have a Howell FI. Project: Carter BBD rebuild Difficulty: 1 Time: About 2 hours start to finish Opinion: Not difficult at all. The parts from the rebuild did not seem to make that much of a difference. I did need the gaskets. Setting the carburator adjustments according to the instructions helped the most. The automatic choke actually works correctily. I would also clean the idle tubes while your at it. They have a tendency to get gummed up. |
