I watched I Wanna Be Happy, starring Gloria Romero, Eddie Garcia and Cherrie Pie Picache among others. Written and directed by Jose Javier Reyes, I Wanna Be Happy is the story of a couple that finds themselves on the verge of separation two months before their golden wedding anniversary. The family matriarch (Gloria)—taking her cue from a widowed friend (Marissa Delgado) who began to live it up after her husband died—packs her bags, tells her children she’s leaving their father, and walks out the door, declaring that she’s doing it because “I wanna be happy.” Its seriously entertaining and funny at times. Its a family film showcasing ups and downs of marriage, the frustrations of wives, children coping with family issues, and the search for happiness.
