A haiku is an unrhymed Japanese poem of three
lines containing specific numbers of syllables in each line. It is
usually light and delicate in feeling and is concerned with something beautiful
in nature, especially the seasons of the year. It was once part of
ancient Japanese courtship rituals, as a man would send a haiku to the
woman he loved.
