Rex has performed both research and fieldwork in biology for over 13 years. His varied project experience includes conducting water and soil quality studies in the Verde River Watershed, as well as conducting environmental monitoring activities in partnership with the Verde Watershed Watch Network. He has extensive experience in wetland delineations, wetland restoration studies, habitat assessments and biological evaluations. Other specialties include stream bioassessment, benthic macroinvertebrate surveys, and microbiological testing.

Developed physicochemical, benthic macroinvertebrate and microbiological assessment protocols for the VWWN in accordance with USEPA and ADEQ guidelines. Developed water quality indices (WQI) for comparative analyses of water quality parameters of tributaries within the Verde River Watershed.
