For anyone that loves browsing through used bookstores, Leon's Used Bookstore is the flagship in San Luis Obispo. I've spent many hours wandering the aisles of this bookstore, and at long last, I actually hid a letterbox in the establishment. Now, I haven't told any of the employees about this letterbox, so you must be extraordinarily discreet in hunting it down. In fact, it would be best if you took the letterbox out of the bookstore to stamp in!

Due to the unusal nature of this letterbox, it is a micro-box fit into a film canister. So when you find the box, I'd suggest palming it or hiding it in a pocket before meandering on your way out of the bookstore to find a place to stamp in at. (There's a Foster's Freeze on a corner about a block away that makes a good spot!) Then meander back into Leon's to replace the letterbox. Being discreet as possible, in this very popular bookstore.

Leon's Book Store
659 Higuera St
San Luis Obispo, CA 93401

You can find directions to the place here. Please note that there is a Leon's Annex maybe a mile away, and the letterbox is not at that location. You must go to the downtown location.

Clues

From the entrance, take 20 steps into the store until you find the photography section on your right. Notice how the photography section turns around the corner? (There's a sign trying to explain as much.) Turn the corner and go to the very bottom of that section.

The very bottom shelf you can't slide your hand under, but the next most bottom one you can, and I hid the letterbox on the bottom side of that shelf, at the extreme right end.

And don't forget to be extremely discreet while getting and rehiding the letterbox! It's in a high-traffic area, the employees do not know of its existance, but you can easily pretend to be looking at books while you're really in search of the letterbox. Good luck! Let me know how it goes! =)

NOTE: Always take adequate precautions (such as prodding with a stick and/or wearing gloves) before reaching into dark crevasses and holes in the wild. Before you set out read the waiver of responsibility and disclaimer.
