Magic
Magic is at times more popular then prayer, considering you can do a few things that you can't do in prayer. However Magic is useless without Runes. Runes are the main source of all magic. Here is a list of all runes so far in the Runescape World.

Cosmic Rare Enchantment Rune, used to enchant Amulets
Body Non-rare Curse Rune, used in low level Curse Spells.
*Soul Very-Rare Curse Rune, used in high level Curse Spells.

Runescape has it's own way of telling you if you have enough runes or not. When you put your mouse over the Spell Book in the top right icons, click Spells and put your mouse over the desired spell. It'll have a picture of the rune and a number near it. If the number is in Green, your set to go but if the number is in Red, you'll need more of that rune before being able to cast the spell.

Teleport Spells are the fastest way to get around. A charged Dragon Amulet can take you just about anywhere if your a member, but if not... there's always teleporting with runes. Here is a list of Teleport Spells, what level you need to use it and what runes you need to cast it.

There is ways to increase your Magic's power and chance of succession other then your magic level. There are clothes that increase your Magic by equipping them. Here is a list of objects and their stats.

Iban Staff Weapon Acquired when completing the Underground Pass quest. when equipped, Allows you to use Iban Blast spell.

The Wizards Guild is one of the best places for Wizards who are members. The Wizards Guild is the only place where you can buy the Soul Rune. The Magic Guild is located in Yanille, south of Ardougne and requires that you have level 66 magic before you can enter the guild. On the second floor, there is a rune store where you can buy the Soul Rune for 2000 gp. On the third floor there are 4 portals that teleport you to the other wizard towers in Runescape. In the basement are some zombies behind a caged wall so you can practice yours spells without being attacked

Prayer
Prayer is less complicated then Magic but doesn't have many alternatives. Prayer can only be raised by burying bones and most of the prayer spells are self enhancing, other then the popular Paralyze Monster prayer. Unlike any other skill, Prayer needs to be recharged after being used. Your charge depends on your level. The higher your Prayer level, the more Prayer Points you have. When your down to 0, you'll need to find a church and recharge your prayer at an Altar.

Like stated above, the only way you can increase your prayer level is by bones. You get bones by fighting and killing a certain monster. Here's is an experience table for the certain kinds of bones and how much experience you get from them.

Certain clothing will help your prayer last longer by increasing the Prayer Equip stat. These can range from Priest Robes to Robes of Zamorak. Here's a list of equip-able items and where to get them.

Blessed Holy Symbol of Saradomin Crafted with Silver and a Ball of Wool, you'll need to bless it at the Monastery. Gives you 8 Prayer Equip stats when equipped

Once you have level 31 Prayer. Charge it up if it isn't already and head o the Monastery, northeast of Barbarian Village. With level 31 Prayer, you'll be able to go to the second floor. There, is a Respawn of Monk Robes and Gowns, an Altar, and a man named Brother Jared that can bless your stringed Holy Symbols for you with no fee. There is also loads of Monks up there, so you can kill them and use their bones for burial.
