Tim Walz is the new Congressman for Minnesota's 1st district. He does not support the Bush escalation in Iraq especially when the Bush estimates of cost and number of troops needed are so inaccurate. He wants to move toward a balanced budget. He serves on the House Veterans' Affairs Committee, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Agriculture Committee. He is working diligently to clean up the meth problem in Minnesota. He is working to lower prescription drug prices and to otherwise make health care more affordable and more responsive to the needs of all the people. He cosponsered a bill to increase the minimum wage nationally. He is a public high school teacher who knows that we need lower cost and and higher quality education and he helped cut student loan rates. He knows that we need diplomatic and political solutions in Iraq not more troops and more deaths/injuries.He is acting to swiftly clean up the lack of ethics in the Congress. He helped improve research in health care by expanding stem cell use. For working energetically to improve American governance, Tim Walz has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
