| Yoshi is one of the best known superstars whenever mentions SSB Melee. He has been with the company for a long time. This 3-time Beach Battle Main Eventer is one of the most dominant superstars of the new century. When SSB opened up in April 1999, Yoshi was not on the roster. Yoshi was supposed to be there but wasn't. But until the June 25, 1999 episode of SSB, Yoshi made his debut and made a huge impact! Yoshi's biggest match ever was when he defeated Kirby in a 10-minute Ironman Hardcore match on August 8, 1999. He won with a score of 2 to -4. From August 1999 all the way to January 2001 was the "4 Smashers" era, a group led by Yoshi at that time, consisting of Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, & Jigglypuff. Many people thought they were a ripoff of D-Generation X, but Yoshi said they are different. They feud with the NWO, which was led by Link. The 4 Smashers were defeated by them in November '99 though. Yoshi & Donkey Kong was the most famous Tag Team throughout this time. It wasn't until December 2000 when Yoshi turned his back on all his fans and went heel. He entered out with White Zombie music and was always angry! Eventually, he became a face again at the start of 2001. The 4 Smashers era finally came to an end in January 2001. Yoshi began to play tricks on superstars in the summer '01, such as being a fake pizzaman, and setting firecrackers in Kirby's locker room! Yoshi has even feud with Mario, his former Tag Team Partener when they won the Tag Team titles once. Mario threatened to fire Yoshi's long-time girlfriend, Jigglypuff, so Yoshi took the Intercontinental title once from him in spring '02. Yoshi has never won the World Championship yet, but when 2004 comes, he knows he will be ready to get what he's been trying to get since he first walked in! |
