| How SSB Wrestling Was Made |
| Around the middle of January 2001, Mario was on TV, being interviewed. Interviewer: So Mario, this giant Super Smash Bros craze around America has been huge! How do you feel about that? Mario: I feel just fine. Interviewer: When people think of SSB, they wonder: How did you ever create SSB? Mario: Oh, that was awesome a few years ago! I'm going to take you back to February 1999. After I created my popular game, Mario Party, I felt weird. I wanted to be a true hero. And everytime I saw people, all around me, they were watching that show called WWF. And that gave me a brilliant idea! I decided to create my own wrestling league! I thought of the name Super Mario Bros, but I wanted to replace the word "Mario" with an electrifying word. So I chose the word "Smash" And that's how I got the name of "Super Smash Bros"! Interviewer: What did you do next? Mario: It was about March 1999 now. The next thing I had to do was to get the superstars in the league! I had myself. That was it. I then told my brother, Luigi about it and he was the 2nd man I got on the roster. Then my other friends from Mario Party, Yoshi and Donkey Kong we're delighted to join us! We had 4 men on the team! After that, that was all the Mario characters I was able to get. But the roster was still too small. I looked at the other popular games for the N64. I found The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, F-Zero X, and Star Fox 64! I wanted 1 man from each game. I called Link, Captain Falcon, & Fox McCloud and they all decided to join! Heh, it's funny now because all 3 of the guys I called are a team! The NWO! Interviewer: Yeah, that's funny! Mario: So it was the ending of March. And I had 7 men on the roster. Still too small. I decided to get at least 12 men in the league. And I looked at the SNES games & Gameboy games and found that the popular SNES & Gameboy games are Super Metroid, Earthbound, Kirby Superstar, and Pokemon! I called Samus, Ness, and Kirby and they were happy to be in the sport! I then called Professor Oak and said I asked if I could have at least 2 Pokemon in SSB! He suggested Pikachu & Jigglypuff. I wasn't sure what both Pokemon looked like because I am no Pokemaniac. I got Pikachu & Jigglypuff on the team and I have 12 Superstars! And at the ending of April, SSB was about to begin! And on April 26th we began by using our welcoming quote, "Let the games begin!" and I became famous! And here I am today! I am a millionaire! Interviewer: Well Mario, it's been great talking to you. Mario: On what I just told you, I hope you become a fan of SSB also! Interviewer: I'm an adult, Mario. Mario: Whatever. See you. |
