3508. Elijah Loomis

From Linda Davis: He Served in the American Rev. From 1775 to 1781. Was wounded in the battle of Monmouth and was a pensioner for life. He joined the church in Vernon 27 Oct 1782. About 1800 he removed to Ny and died there.

6384. Elijah Meakins Loomis

Son of Abner Loomis, who came from Connecticut in 1801. His mother dying in his infancy, he was brought up by his uncle, Roswell Loomis, whose widow, Mercy, still lives, at the age of 86, and is the oldest person in town. He m. Jane, da. of James Bassford, who died in 1834, aged 27, leaving two children, Edmund and Mary. Edmund m. Maria, da. of Hiram Smith, of Rupert; Mary m. George Clark. Next, Mr. Loomis m. Nancy, da. of Thaddeus Smith, of Rupert, who died in 1861, aged 54, leaving five children.
