5417. Fannie Hyde

Messenger and Advocate (June 1837) Euclid, OH.
-----In Euclid, July 6, Mrs. FANNY PARKS, wife of Col. William Parks, aged 47. She had been a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, three years, and died in full faith of the new and everlasting Covenant, and in hope of a blessed immortality.


William Parks

From a report taken from Our Pioneer Heritage, Vol. 2, p. 337, is the following short paragraph (from a history of Millesant London Osborn Parks): "In 1835 she was married to William Parks, a widower at Kirtland, Ohio by Brigham Young. Five children were born to this union: Susan Annie, Moroni, Naomi Sariah, Sarah Elizabeth and Mary Millesant. Susan Annie lived seven short years. Because of illness, William Parks did not start across the plains with his family but went back to his son, William Orr Parks, at Louisiana, Pike county, Missouri. It was here he died 2 December 1857."

"There is a peculiar circumstance in the history of George, the oldest, and Samuel H, the youngest son of Stephen Olmsted. The former left home before Samuel H. was born. He moved to Allen Co, OH, where he died and was buried. Samuel H. was born, and removed to the same place, where he died and was buried by the side of George. These two, the oldest, and youngest sons, never met, but died within a half mile of each other, and were buried side by side." (Olmsted Gen., p. 71)


John Hurlburt

"He accompanied the expedition against Ticonderoga under General Amherst in 1759. He is believed to have moved with part of his family to Waterford, Pa." (Olmsted Genealogy, p. 42)


2539. Isaac Olmsted

"He served in the Revolutionary War and the followning are the records shown by the War Department: Isaac Olmsted served as a private in Cololnel G. S. Silliman's Reg't Conn. Militia. The dates of his enlistment and discharge are not of record, his name appearing only on a muster roll that shows the company was organized by Capt. Gamaliel Northrop, Jr., of Rickfield, Fairfield Co., Conn. The records also show that he served as a private in Capt. Ezekiel Sanford's company, commanded by Col. Philip B. Bradley. He enlisted Jan. 3, 1777, for three years, was transferred Nov. 1, 1778, to Col. Bradleys company, same Reg't, and was dischaarged Jan. 3, 1780. The records also show that he served as a corporal in Captain Thaddeus Weed's company, also designated 5th Co., 2d Conn. Reg't, commanded by Col. Heman Swift. He enlisted May 24, 1781, for three years and was transferred about May, 1783, to Capt. Taylor's company, same Reg't, and his name is last borne on the company roll for Setp., 1783." "They moved Jun. 12, 1817, from Hartland, Conn. to Ohio, making the journey in six weeks, and settled in dense wilderness.

2574. Gamaliel Olmsted

He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War in Col. Hunyington's Reg't. He was in the battles of Rhode Island and Springfield, NY and had a pension.

2592. Daniel Olmsted

Mr. Olmsted was a soldier in the Revoluntionary War. He was in the siege of Yorktown. He enlisted at Simsbury, CT, under Capt. Bissell, in early 1776, joined his Reg't at Roxbury, MA, and when Boston was evacuated March 17, 1776, the regt. was ordered to New York City. He was engaged in the battle on Long Island, under the command of Gen. Sullivan, and the battles which followed on the retreat from New York City, at White Plains and Kingsbridge. He was discharged Jan. 1, 1777, and enlisted again in 1777, under Capt. Pettibone, in Col. Eno's Continental Regt., going for six months to New Haven and vicinity. In 1778 he entered the service again for six months, marched to Horse Neck, where he served his turn in Col. Mead's Regt. In 1779 he served as corporal in Col. Eno's Regt., marched to Horse Neck, White Plains, Peekskill, and other places on the North river. He was in the detachment of 300 men under Major Healy that made an attach on the British stationed on an island near Morrisania, Westchester Co., in which they were repulsed, losing a considerable number of men killed, including Major Healy, and nearly all the rest in prisoners. In 1780 he enlisted for six months as sergeant in Capt. Catlin's Co., Col. Arnold's Regt., which was at New Haven, Conn.

He was a U.S. pensioner. After the war he removed to Whitestown, NY.


5456. Lyman Olmsted

He moved from Whitestown to Arcadia and bought a farm near his brother Ellihu. He served in the War of 1812. Was at Sackett's Harbor and drew a pension. His house in Arcadia was on "Olmsted Hill," the highest hill in Wayne County, NY.


5457. Elijah Tuller Olmsted

He moved to Lockburn, Franklin, Ohio.


5459. Oliver Olmsted

At the age of 16 years, he went to Albany, NY, as a clerk in the store of "B.B. Hyde & Co." and two years afterwards, he was sent to Onondaga County to serve in a branch store. After his marriage he bought a farm in Arcadia near his brothers, but in two sold out to return to Whitestown to take charge of his father's farm.
