Descendants of Joseph Loomis Sr. in Colonial America

Notes

2348. George Butler

Removed to Pittsfield, MA, 1779.

5301. Manley Butler

Info on descendants of Daniel Butler provided by Diane Ryan.
A Manly Butler is on the 1840 and 1850 census index as residing in Ephratah, Fulton Co., NY. In 1840 Manly listed on pg 367 and a John Butler listed on page 364. No other Butlers in Ephratah. Diane states in her response on 1/16/99 that "I surmise that the John Butler ... is his brother John who lived on Fulton County around that time ... his family kept wonderful records and his descendants have submitted elaborate family trees to the LDS ... I have tried to contact them but the addresses I have received for submitters are out of date ... I did not know that John was there so nearby in the census, so will look him up."
See notes on father George. Per familysearch.com, Manly had a brother John but he was born 18 Jan 1790. I suspect that the younger John (b. 1810/11) was a nephew of Manley, possibly the son of Daniel, Joseph, Samuel, Sire or John. I will enumerate him as the suspect son of John until further research proves otherwise. Bud

Haddam settled at a locality to which he gave the classic name, 'Mt. Parnassus,' which still bears that name. He was a lineal descendant of Myles Standish, his great grandmother, Hannah Standish, wife of Nathan Foster, of Stafford, Conn., being a great granddaughter of Capt. Myles Standish. (The Olmsted Family in America, p. 30)

2414. Roger Olmsted

"Removed in 1805 to Providence, R.I., and in 1811 to Milledgeville, Ga, where soon afterwards, his wife died. [The Olmsted Genealogy previously stated that his wife died about 1801, but from the passage above, she was still alive when they removed to Georgia and she died soon afterwards (abt. 1812).] " When or where he died is unknown. One report is that he was lost at sea, on a voyage to Havanna, Cuba, another that he went to Florida and was never heard of." (Olmsted Genealogy, p. 53)
