Descendants of Joseph Loomis Sr. in Colonial America

Notes

2005. Amos Loomis

Settled in Franklin, Portage, OH (History and Genealogy of the Pomeroy Family , Vol 2)

2008. Nathaniel Loomis

In Hist. of Southampton is this: "When Ft. William Henry was surrendered to the treacherous French in 1757, two men, Joel Clapp and Nathaniel Loomis, of Southampton, escaped, naked, from the Indians after a terrible run of 14 miles through the forest." (See p. 342 of Historic Towns of the Conn. River Valley). Nathaniel Loomis also served in the War of the Rev., under Capt. Ebenezer Sheldon (7th Co. of volunteers), 1782. See Mass. Report of Soldiers in the Revolution.

4936. Spencer Loomis

In the Loomis Genealogy, Dr. Loomis, lists the d.o.b. for Spencer as 22 Nov 1841; however, that date is probably incorrect. I believe this because, had the original date been correct, his mother would have been well over 50 years old. Also, the positioning and numbering in the book has Spencer between Philo and Mariette. The numbering (#1757) also falls between Philo (#1756) and Mariette (#1758). Also, Spencer Loomis was located in the Town of Tully, Onondaga Co., NY on the 1860 census. His age was listed as 49. That would mean he was born in 1811, falling between his brother Philo and his sister Marietta.

Daniel Fitch

In 1823 he removed to Genessee Co., NY, then in 1825, to Cattaraugus Co., NY, then in 1840 to Townsend, Huron Co., OH. Hew was a farmer. A Methodist.

4953. Anna Loomis

In Nov., 1831, they started for Olmsted and the vessel on which they took passage at Buffalo, NY, was driven by storm into port at Dunkirk. She took sick with a fever and d. at the home of Ebenezer Webster, uncle of Mr. Fitch, near Fredonia, NY.

2129. Jabez Loomis

Made the administrator of his father-in-law's estate 21 Mar 1812. Nicholas G/Tenbrook Taylor died intestate.

Sarah Taylor

Died at the home of her son Nicholas Tenbrook Loomis.
