1946. Abraham Colt

Notes from Nancy Ranck's Genealogy:
Covalt's Station was on the west bank of the Little Miami River between 1/8 and 1/4 of a mile south of the north section line of fractional section 23, Columbia Twp, Hamilton Co, OH a little more than 1/2 mile south of Milford, Clermont Co, OH. Captain Abraham Covalt purchased 600 acres in fractional sections 22 and 23 in Columbia Twp. Public Records show several hundred acres transferred by Captain Covalts descendants.

After their marriage Abraham(3) bought land in Eastbury, a part of Glastonbury in the east part of town, where they lived until he sold the land in 1753.

From that point until Abraham received a land grant in Cumberland (now Fulton) Co, PA in 1767, there is no real evidence as to where the family went. Family ttradition says they moved from Glastonbury to Florida in Orange Co., NY and from there to the Frankford area in Sussex Co, NJ. Certainly the John Gustin family (Abraham's in-laws) took that route. His son Abraham was there when he was drafted into the Navy. He later fought in the Battle of Martinico.

Abraham Coult was listed in the tax records of Cumberland County.

4788. Timothy Isaac Covalt

His grandson, E. G. Covault, said of him, "Timothy Covalt was a man of powerful physique, an athelete, a swift runner and in fact a wonderfully strong man."

He was an indian fighter and the spear he and his father Abraham used was sent to the museum at Columbus, OH.

4789. Cheniah Covalt

Notes from Nancy Ranck's Genealogy:
Cheniah Covalt served under General St. Clair and was captured by the Indians in a battle in 1791, but escaped. Later he served as a Captain in the State Militia for several years according to his granddaughter Edith Covalt Deam. She also said that he had 10 children.

From the Recorders office in Washington Co, PA: On 12 APR 803, two deeds were made by Cheniah Covalt and Rachel, his wife.
