1802. Simon Loomis Sr.

He was a soldier of the Revolution; family tradition says he was a witness to Burgoyne's surrender and he bore a dispatch to Gen. Washington notifying him of the surrender, and that he was a scout in the Revolution. He would never wear a red shirt because he hated the "red coats" so badly. He was a memb. of the House of Representatives (Conn.), 1805-6. He removed to German Flatts, NY, in 1812.


Benjamin Wood

Removed to Cincianati, Ohio, in 1829. Children: 1. Fanny Loomis, 2. Charlotte Elizabeth, 3. William Benjamin, 4. Martha Buckingham, 5. Laura, 6. Sophia, 7. Benjamin Franklin.


4569. Stephen Buckingham Loomis

Removed from Lebanon, CT to Orleans County, NY in March of 1834 to Dexter in 1860.


1805. Daniel Loomis

He removed to Bernardstown, Mass., before 1774; d. July 1, 1 819. According to Lyman's Genealogy, p. 89, his spouse, Eunice Lyman, was the mother of 11 ch'n, but their names are not given.

From the History of the Town of Bernarston, Ma:
He was tithing-man 1774 1776, constable & collector 1777, surveyor of highways 1777-1782, selectman 1781. The town farm is the site of the old Loomis place.


Stephen Webster

Major Stephen Webster, a noted hotel keeper of Northfield, Mass., b. Oct. 20, 1759, N. s. at Glastonbury, Ct., m. at Bernardston, Mass., Eunice Loomis, b. May 1, 1767, dau. of Daniel and Eunice (Lyman) Loomis of Lebanon, Ct. Her parents died at Bernardston, Daniel, July 11,1819, aged 82; Eunice, Jan. 28,1816, aged 82, and are buried in Old Cemetery in Bernardston.

Records of Deeds show that Jany. 30, 1790, Stephen Webster, sold to Stephen Webster, Jr., real estate in Falltown, now Bernardston, the deed being signed by Stephen Webster (no wife) and witnessed by David Webster and John Webster.

Stephen Webster is said to have been a major in a Mass. Militia regiment.

Both d. at Bernardston, Mass., he, June 6, 1829, aged 69 years, 7 mos., 16 ds.; and she, Nov. 24, 1826, aged 59 ys., 6 mos. 23 ds.and are buried in the old cemetery near the village.

CHILDREN: (All b. at Bernardston, Mass.) Bette, May 4, 1785, died March 30,1787; Artemas, Oct. 7, 1787; Miner, July 24,1791; Stephen Williams, Feb. 2, 1794; Sylvia Eunice, b. March 14, 1796; Stephen, June 14, 1798, died Jan. 6, 1808, aged 10 ys.; Esther, June 22, 1800; Sarah, Nov. 9, 1811, died Jany. 30, 1812.


4602. Asahel Loomis

Asahel Loomis was living in 1799; he was the only heir to his father's estate.

This may be the Asahel Loomis who was in Silver Lake, Susquehannah, PA, on the 1830 census. Probably the same person was noted on the 1820 census in Choconut, Susquehannah, PA with 1 M under 10, 3 M under 26, 1 M under 45, 1 F under 16, 1 F under 26, over 45.


William Smalley

Notes from Margaret Scheffler:
Per the Small Genealogy after his second marriage to Susanna Bascom of Greenfield, Massachusetts, William Smalley, Esq. settled in Greenfield, probably in that part later included in Gill. He was a selecman 1784, 1787, and 1788 at Guilford, Windham, Vermont. He was the Town treasurer in 1788. He was also town clerk and moderator of town meetings in 1784, 1785, 1786, and 1787. He was a delegate to the State Constitutional Convention in 1786. He was a selectman and assessor at Greenfield in 1793. He probably removed from Gill as his name disappeared from the records after 1794. He was one of the owners of fishing rights at Burnham's Rock, in Turner's Falls.

Removed from Lebanon, CT to Bernardston in 1771.


Samuel Woodbridge House

Resided in Andover, Conn., where he d. His wodow removed to Columbia, Conn.
