He resided before 1774 at Sheffield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. By 1790, he was residing at Burlington, Chittenden County, Vermont.
2033. Horace Loomis
"Horace Loomis, esq., of Burlington, in the spring of 1790, then fifteen years old, on his way to Burlington, where his father was beginning a settlement, passed through this village (MIddlebury) with a drove of sheep, cattle and horses. He states that the timber on the common was cut down, and that John Deming was then getting out timber for his new house; and he was told there was no frame house in the village.

Dr. Elias Loomis has her marrying Zenas Case. John E Loomis feels that is an error and that she never married him. According to John Loomis Zenas Case married Mary Loomis, #623. Her marital status is thus unknown.

Obituary:
In Orford, April 14th, Deacon Michael Taintor, aged 83. He was the last of the four first deacons of the 1st Church, whose ages averaged more than 85 years. He was born in Colchester, Conn., March 14th, 1749; had been a member of the church fifty-one years and a deacon thirty-two years. He was a pious, good man, and came down to the grave "as a shock of corn cometh in his season, fully ripe." "Let me die the death of the righteous and let my last end be like his."
627. Gideon Loomis
Gideon possibly had a second wife named Hannah who died, according to the Waterbury Church Record, on 3 May 1817 at age 77. According to the East Windsor Church Record, a child of Gideon died on 24 March 1773. (Jerusha?) (Stiles)
