Descendants of Joseph Loomis Sr. in Colonial America

Notes

1798. Rhoda Loomis

The Loomis and the Bulkeley Genealogy books are at odds naming Roger's second wife. The Loomis Genealogy lists Rhoda Loomis, b. 17 Mar 1746/47 as his second wife, while the Bulkeley Genealogy lists a Rhoda Jones, b. 4 Oct 1750, Colchester, CT, as his second wife.

1800. Irene Loomis

Unmarried.

1801. William Loomis

Killed in the Battle of Bunker Hill.

525. Joseph Hinsdale

Removed to Hinsburg, VT, 1790.

546. Elisha Munsell

On January 6, 1778, he petitioned thegeneral assembly of Connecticut to make an allowance to him because of the death of his son, Joel, a revolutionary soldiere, who was ordered unter the command of General Horatio Gates and while stationed in Albany contracted such a severe case of smallpox that he died November 23, 1777, eighteen days after his arrival home, and his father, aged and with a laarge family to support, had been put to considerable expense to secure medical attention and the attendance of nurses.

First resided in Enfield, then removed to East Windsor.

1838. Joel Munsell

Two days after arriving home from the army, he contracted a severe case of small pox and died eighteen days after arriving home.

1840. Naomi Munsell

Her father deeded her one acre of land in 1776.

1841. Bathsheba Munsell

Munsell Family Genealogy notes that she probably died unmarried.

547. Jonathan Munsell

DAR recognized soldier in the Revolutionary War.

In 1755, he was a resident of the North, or Scantic, Parish of Windsor. On March 23, 1770, a deed of about two acres was given him by the Proprietor Committee of East Windsor. recorded April 25, 1774.

1847. Jonathan Munsell

Served in the military during the Revolutionary War.

1854. Lucy Munsell

The date of birth in the article "The Windsor Family of Munsell" (Vol. 34, p. 248) was given as Nov. 31, 1755. But since Nov. only has 30 days, I have opted to use the date Nov. 30. The original transcription of the vital records of Windsor also shows Lucy's d.o.b. as Nov. 31, so it's probable the town clerk mistakenly used Nov. 31 for Dec. 1 or Nov. 30.

1855. Mercy Munsell

Removed to western NY.

550. Jacob Munsell

In May 1755, he was an inhabitant of the North, or Scantic, Parish of Windsor.

1859. Silas Munsell

The Windsor Town Records state that this child was the son of Jacob & Phebe Munsell. That would be quite improbably since Phebe would have been over 54 years old at the time of birth. Also, another son was given the name Silas by Jacob & Sarah several years later.
