1565. Jonah Loomis
Stiles notes that this is possibly the Jonah who died 1 Jan 1782 (E.W.C.R), and that his daughter died 25 Sep 1750, but this probably isn't the correct Jonah because he would have only been aged 13/14 when the daughter died. It may have been a reference to his father and sister Azubah.
Served in the early part of the Revolutionary War, being a private in Capt. John Strong's Co. (9th co., 17th reg., Connecticut) and possibly was killed or died in service, Sept. 15, 1776. (Battle of Manhattan occured on 9/15/1776 with 60 colonials killed or wounded)
1568. Ezekiel Loomis
"Mr. Ezekiel instantly killed by a fall from a cart loaded with hay, 2 July, 1801, ae 59 yrs - an honest and laborious man and an exemplary Christian." - E.W.O. (Stiles).
