Descendants of Joseph Loomis Sr. in Colonial America

The information herein is a work-in-progress. There is a lot of documented information about this family, but most of what I present is taken from genealogical histories of the family. It does not mean the information is 100% accurate. While I try to present the most accurate data I can, some of it has been collected from sources which are unreliable in the consistency of their data and some information is just exploratory and subject to correction and revision at any time. I believe most of the material that is documented and verified is accurate, but there is always the possibility that is isn't entirely accurate. I have disagreed on several points with various authors, and found conflicting data, most of which I've added to the Notes section. So while I believe most of the material is accurate, some names, dates and places are listed in my database tentatively or even speculatively for my use as a starting point at which to conduct more research. If I have documented the source of the material, the probability of it being correct is normally as good as the surety level. If I haven't documented the information, I probably got it from an other than normally reliable source. While some of the information in these undocumented sources sometimes proves to be accurate, I have found, for the most part, the information is untrustworthy and unreliable. If you check, a lot of the information in this version has been changed from previous versions and also a lot more information has been sources. Please do not rely on my research. Verify everything for yourself. Several lines are still incomplete, but I am working to expand the known descendants of Joseph Loomis through the 18th century and into the 19th century. This was a time of rapid expansion for the country and many of the Loomis family were adventurers and pioneers. They moved not only west, but south and southwest, eventually winding up in California. If you have any conflicting or additional information on the first seven generations of this family, feel free to send me the corrections. If you can add information to any of these lines, please send me a gedcom and include all citations and sources.. Thanks & good hunting.
