"I'm Not Big-Headed!!!"
I used to think that people who set up their own web sites, just to tell the world about themselves, were rather big-headed. After all, who why would anyone who doesn't know them give a damn? However, this site was requested by someone else, and now I'm making it so that people can find and enjoy what I do.
Who am I?
My name is Richard Kaye and currently I'm a pharmacy student at Nottingham university (-wow?. Since writing this I've actually graduated, qualified and am now studying a PhD)
Since I found the Beatles at the age of seven I've been interested in music. I started playing the guitar, aged eleven, and only knowing a handful of chords, starting writing and performing my own songs with my first band at junior school.
At secondary school I played with a number of groups, including jazz big-bands, sang in choirs. I also picked up enough piano to get buy. Aged 15 I started writing music again, to play in bands and for other people's GCSE music compositions.
Over the next few years I learned how to use my computer (computing was another big hobby of mine) as a recording studio. This allowed my song writing and arranging to become more complex.
That's what I've been doing ever since - writing and recording songs for my own pleasure; expressing what I feel at the time about, life, girls, religion, or just making nice music.
This site
The songs I record I can make into MP3s or burn onto audio CDs. I've given these out to friends and generally the response has been good. One friend wanted to make a site devoted to me and my music (this is the same friend who says he keeps his copy of my Alright, OK album next to the Beatles Revolver! You know who you are!). Rather than let him do it, I thought I would make the site myself. That way I could put on the things I want and give the right impression.
Hopefully, this site will allow those of you that have heard my music, to gain an insight into what's behind it, and those who haven't, an opportunity to discover it.
As much as I enjoy my hobby, there's nothing like other people telling me that they like my creations. So if anyone finds this site and gets something from it that's great.
Of course I would like to receive any feedback, good or bad, about my music and this site
Enjoy
Richard
