Shakopee River Trail
Meeting Place:
Check Main Page for meeting place location.

Route:
The trail is across Levee Drive (to the North) and runs East and West along the Minnesota River.

Going West. the trail follows the Minnesota River for a mile before diverting through some farmland, along some small lakes, and finally through a small wooded area where it again meets the river.  The first mile and a half is moderately hilly.  The trail is marked in 1/4 mile intervals.  The out and back distance to the "trail closed gate" is 5.73 miles.  (Note:  the river is 5.89 miles and for future reference the dirt trail to 41 is 5.72 miles out and back.

Going East
, the trail loosely follows the Minnesota River until it reaches Memorial Park.  This end of the trail is more residential, but it does pass through some wooded areas and by a few ponds.  This trail is marked at 1/4 mile intervals.  The out and back distance to the bridge to Memorial Park is 3.34 miles.  Add a lap around the park and the out and back distance is 4.21 miles.

Other Things to Know:
Many runners are uncomfortable running on this trail alone.  If you are not familiar with it, bring a friend along.

No water or restrooms are available on the trail.  Restroom facilities may be found at various locations in downtown Shakopee.
