| Louisville Swamp (Minnesota Valley NWR) | ||||||||||||
| Meeting Place: In the Main Parking Lot. Exit Highway 169 at 145th Street. There are brown refuge signs leading the way from both directions. Continue on 145th past the main entrance to the Renaissance Festival and over the 2nd set of railroad tracks (do stop for trains here too!). The parking lot is at the end of the road on the left. Route: Various trails 2.5 to 8+ miles in length.. Can be muddy and wet. Early spring is especially wet. Very buggy in the summer. Other Things to Know: The entrance to the trail uses the same road as the entrance to the Renaissance Festival. Therefore, this trailhead can be difficult to access during the fall weekends. Starting from this location and running to Shakopee's Levee Drive parking area or Memorial Park is a great point-to-point run along the River. Be mindful of hunters along the river route during the fall. Running buddies are recommended along the River trail. |
