| Grade: Third or any Objectives: 1. Identify literary elements such as characters, plot and setting. 2. Create a concept web of a story read. Materials: Computers Inspiration software (concept web template) Reading material Overview of Project: Students will read an age appropriate book, either teacher or student selected and create a concept web based on elements of the story read. After completing the story, students come to the computer and open the concept web template. The template asks for the following elements: characters/characteristics, theme, conflict, setting and title. This template also includes picture clues for various information. Students insert the information asked for in the template. Students then use the web as a tool to write their own computer generated story or summary based on the book they have read. This template is a good form of assessment or as a prewriting activity. Completed webs may be printed off and used for any type of writing activity. |
