Name Stamps
Grade: First/Kindergarten

Time: Completed during center activities. 15 minutes per child

Objectives:
1. Identify beginning sounds of objects/pictures.
2. Identify letters by name and sound in meaningful context.

Materials: Computers
                Kid Pix Deluxe Software

Overview of Project:

Students use Kid Pix Studio Deluxe to first stamp their name at the top of the computer screen.

Under each letter of the name, students use the picture stamps to identify items that begin with each of those letters. For example: RENEE, under "r" would include stamps of rabbit, rake, rooster, etc. (See student examples) Students scroll through the stamp section searching for items for each letter. The teacher can determine how many of each letter should be included.

Completed names can be printed out and placed around the room as a "letter wall" and can be used during class discussions.

This project was included as a center activity.
