| Feed Gregory the Goat |
| Grade: First Interactive Bulletin Board Discription and Instructions: "Feed Gregory the Goat" was designed to be an interactive bulletin board and used during daily center activities. All of the contents and activities placed on the board were to promote nutrition awareness. This board was displayed and used during a two-week unit on nutrition. The theme of the board went along with the book that was read titled, "Gregory the Terrible Eater". Upon discussing the book and the food pyramid, the students then came to the board, cut and pasted pictures of healthy food from magazines onto paper plates and fed Gregory a helathy, balanced meal. This was accomplished by placing a paper plate into Gregory's mouth. Behind the cut out mouth was an attached paper bag that caught the plates that were created. The following is a list of the various activities the students completed at the board during center time. Make a snack from a recipe (following directions) Students used plastic food to follow the steps on a recipe card. Each recipe gave directions on a type of sandwich. Some sandwiches were a little on the silly side. Choose an Exercise Students chose a card and completed the exercies written on the card. This also helped to promote healthy bodies. An example included run inplace while counting to 100. Worksheet Folder This folder contained worksheets that correlated with daily lessons on nutrition. The worksheets included cut and paste the animal over the food we get from them, circle the dairy items, and pole the class on favorite foods. All completed worksheets were placed in an "in box" to be looked at by the teacher before passing back. Feed Gregory the Goat Place paper plates, magazines, sissors, and glue by the board. Also include a food pyramid on the board for reference. |
