Introducing R.R.M.L. member Ralph Ashby

My first experience with black-powder was admiration for years and I was able to afford one in the winter of "62". I finally built a flintlock pistol in the winter months of "66" and "67". I got involved with the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association and in "67" I wanted to go to Friendship, Ind. to attend a National event, to get flint and round ball. It's been downhill ever since.

I got involved with buckskinning and learned (studied history) to be an American Mountain Man! Early "80's" found me looking into my roots and from that I ended up wearing a kilt.
The Latest Adventure; I went to an encampment at Crown Point, NY, and was caught up with maritime re-enactors and their wooden boats. When I left the encampment I did a lot of shopping and built my own sailing dinghy.

Since I started, buckskinning and the number of rendezvous have increased dramatically. Now you have a choice any week-end; back then you waited for a few week-ends a year.
Along the way, I do art work (such as the painting on the club's index page). it has been a big part of my life. I work in oils mainly, ink and pencil some. I would like to work water colors into it also. A big part of my time is devoted to historical art work and the research that is required to get it right. It takes time for the study.

If anyone would like to know more about me , my hobbies or my work, please email the booshway and he will pass it along , as I'm not on-line yet.
