Audentior Copyright Law

As with other countries, Audentior seeks to assure that the intellectual property of a person stays such throughout its functional life span. Objects that ought to be assured in this way include:

-Literature of all forms. This includes but is not limited to books, poetry, short stories, plays, and scripts for movies, TV, or other forms of media.

-Songs or other music. This may or may not include lyrics, which may be copyrighted along with the actual tune.

-Movies, videos, or other forms of media. This is especially relevant to shows on Audentior Media Central, but can be applied to anything.

-Web sites design ideas and layout. It will be up to the Chief Justice to decide whether someone has intentionally copied a copyrighted web site design.

The process for submitting an idea for copyright is designed to be as simple as possible. The designer will email the full contents of the idea to be copyrighted to the Justice Minister with the heading "Request For Copyright". The Justice Minister will review the request, consulting with any parties he or she deems necessary. He or she will then decide whether or not to copyright it. If it falls in the above categories, it must be copyrighted unless such would be a severe blow to national security. The Justice Minister may not revoke copyrights at will.

Copyrights will naturally expire after six months. If one wishes to extend the copyright further, it will be submitted to the Justice Minister at the end of the six month period. The Justice Minister does not have to renew it, but a good reason must be provided should he or she choose not to. In this case, it may be appealed to Parliament.

Should one believe that a copyright has been violated, he or she should immediately contact the Chief of Police. He or she will then contact the person accused of the violation and get information. Should the person not agree to stop using copyrighted material, and should the police agree that it is in direct violation of a copyright, the case shall be put before the Chief Justice.
