LEG-002: SEN-2. Tymarian Copyright Act
Mr Executive, here is SEN .002, here for your signature to be propagated into law.
------------------------
.002 - The Copyright Act
I. To provide for the protection of individual works and creations, this act calls for the adoption of the Alexandrian Copyright Law, edited for Tymaria proper below.
- Copyright Law of Tymaria
1) A creator of a complete public work of media; namely written, visual, aural, hypertextual, etc. - any above such work which shall consist of a unique and original arrangement that is not already found in the public domain, shall be subject to the laws of copyright, if the owner should so wish. A work in the public domain already may not be claimed by any person.
2) For the practical purposes of micronational law, we shall assume the works which fall under copyright shall be whole and complete works; they shall be of a reasonable length to constitute a weighty claim; they must be of enough substance to present the mark of a particular author.
3) There shall be also for practicality, exceptions to this law. For cases of a pragmatic sort; interchange and speeches in Legislative houses, generally-agreed upon universal images, cartography, or any such thing that is not strenuously claimed by its originator. The stamp of copyright should be taken very seriously; should it be abused, it would become detrimental to the micronational society as a whole, which is based on the free exchange of ideas and a world without many walls.
4) Should a claim be present in a work, its Author may dispute its general use; he/she/they may require some sort of acknowledgement or barter or payment, they may refuse its use in a public setting, or they may let it be freely dispersed to all. If a claim should be pressed in a court of law, the case shall be taken to the highest court of Tymaria.
5) The term of "Author", "Creator" and the like may stand for individuals, partnerships, parties, groups, nations, corporate bodies, etc., and the like.
6) If a dispute arises between a party who shall fall under Tymarian copyright law and an wholly extra-national party, if the two parties agree, the case may be decided in the Tymarian court. If there should be a disagreement in this matter, the government shall allow the matter to be taken to an inter-national court of law.
