Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the House of Israel: therefore, hear the word at My mouth, and give them warning from Me. When I say unto the wicked, thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way to save his live; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet, if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sins, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou delivered thy soul. (Ezekiel 3:17-21).
We have are been called to serve God's purpose in life. We have all been called, to provide our reasonable service to Him. So, what is our reasonable service unto the Lord? Our reasonable service is to fear God and keep his commandments. The summary of our service to God is to be religious, to serve Him submitting to His will, setting aside all matters of doubtful disputation with His calling of us, our personal desires, our lust of the flesh. Our reasonable service is in the root of our religious belief. That we should fear God in our hearts with a reverence of his majesty, with a deference in submission to his authority, and a dread of his wrath for disobedience. Fear of God is to worship God, giving Him the honour He is due for love, mercy, and grace unto us for His namesake.
Gods call to Ezekiel is clearly stated above to be a watchman over the
House of Israel in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, Christ also
clearly states the believers reasonable service to those who believe in
His words of truth. Christ gave us a commission and commandment
saying, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the
Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching
them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you
Matthew 28: 19-20.
In teaching them to observe all things whatsoever Christ has
Commanded us, what is it we are to teach others? Basically, to repent
and be baptized in the Holy Spirit unto new life in Christ. To seek first
the kingdom of God, and to love one another as God (Christ) has loved
you. Christ also said, For many are called, but few are chosen Matthew 22: 14. The chosen are subject to the higher callings of God. However, once any man repents and is baptized, as he matures in the Spirit, in the knowledge, and in the wisdom of God, more is required of that man in the calling and service of Gods purpose. Although a man may not be chosen, he may be called, and each step he takes in Christ brings about a trying of his faith and a testing of his patience that patience may have her perfect work in him, and that the perfect work of God may be manifested in him and shine forth from within him.
The call of God to be a watchman over the people, to hear His word and give warning to mankind is a call to men to stand up and be godly leaders. It is a call to leadership within the community of Gods kingdom. It is a call to lead His people on the spiritual battlegrounds of this Old World, unto the glory of God, who is our salvation. We are in a spiritual battle over the souls of mankind between God and Satan for world domination.
Twenty years ago, I saw the world as full of hope, opportunities and riches, but now all I see is a big old battlefield on which each of us must live, work, and play. The warfare of this battle is covert, unseen, and nested in the spiritual realm of our lives. Most people do not even realize that there is even an age-old battle going on. Why? Because it is a spiritual battle which we can not see with our physical senses. Paul tells us, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (Ephesians 6:10-18).
This is a war in which we must all fight, like it or not. We have no choice in the matter, we will all take a side for there is no neutral zone, no safe houses, or non-combatants. Every one of us will choose or be used by one spiritual power or the other. We all will choose a side in this battle by our actions and reactions to the circumstances situations and the influences of cause and effect in our lives.
We battle not against that which we can see, touch, or smell, the things of this physical world, but against that which we can not see. Yet, the reality of this unseen spiritual realm in which the battle rages is more real than all the physical manifestations of our physical world. How so? It is very simple, God is the reality of all life and existence, and God is spirit, yet it is He who created all that was created. All we see, touch, smell, and hear was created by God. Therefore, spiritual manifestations proceeded all physical manifestations.
The spiritual realm is real and everlasting, whereas, the physical realm is but a refection of that which is spiritual and is thus only temporal. God is spirit, Satan is spirit, but man is only part spirit and tends to disregard that which he can not perceive with his natural senses. If man can not see, touch, smell, and hear it does not exist. Yet, God is. Therefore, when unexplainable spiritual manifestations take place in our physical world it is said to be a miracle.
Manifestations of the spirit in our physical world are only unexplainable to those who are unfamiliar with the discourse and manifestations of the spiritual realm of life. Those who hear and obey the word of God, who walk in His spirit, who pray in the spirit, and are baptized in the Spirit of God understand the circumstances and powers which exist beyond our own realm of reality.
God calls us to be watchmen for those who have not realized the reality of their true being; not as physical beings, but as spiritual beings created in Gods image. The influences of cause and effect originate from the spiritual realm of life (being the cause) and manifest in the physical realm of life (becoming the effect). We see and feel these influences as blessings and curses, as rewards and chastisements, and in our personal experiences of joy and sorrow in life, just to name a few.
If we remain in the darkness of the sins of our flesh, the physical realm of our lives. We remain unaware and uninformed of the spiritual battle, which rages around us as well as in us between God and Satan. We become causalities or victims of this spiritual war, being used like pawns in a game of chess. This is the purpose for God calling watchmen for mankinds salvation, to warn them, making them aware of the spiritual battle for their souls and to alert Gods people of the enemys attack. The watchmans duty is to warn the people when they are at risk of hell fire, due to their choices in life. The choices we make each day based on the influences of cause and effect, which create the circumstances, we all must deal with each day of our lives.
The watchman is to prepare us for battle and inform us how to win it in accordance to Gods will. It is Gods will, that we be able to deal with our circumstances with power beyond our physical realm of reality. For this cause, God sent His Son into the world. That we might be saved by Him and receive the Holy Ghost, which endows us with power from on high to resist the Devil and keep him defeated. Christ defeated Satan when He gave Himself for our sins upon the cross. Satan has no real power over the saints of God.
