Here's what you see for sale at Hanafel's in Pavis:
1) A spider pendant made of bone, matrix for Demoralize (troll item): 2955L
2) A braided leather anklet, matrix for Silence 2 (nomad item): 3020L
3) An enchanted copper shortsword (1 ENC), matrix for Coordination 3 (elf item): 4480L
4) Bidding is being accepted now on a choice item from the Rubble: a twisted piece of iron (probably once a really nice EWF sword hilt but slightly damaged) that still contains a Magic Spirit named The Alcrydyrr which can cast Ironhand 3 (adds +15% and +3 dmg to fist attacks), Protection 3, and Detect Enemy on command for the user. INT and POW are not known (Tison sees 11MP spirit) and it appears to be a speechless slave spirit. The item is known simply as The Alcrydyrr and bidding starts at 8500L, for the next week. The best offer will be taken and many adventurer types are interested in it.
No crystals are for sale.
Eric: Tison would also see if he could work any angles with things he could do or get for Hanafel's, now that we are biz partners and all, maybe our relationship has improved enough that tyner and I would have some insight into this?
John: General info on Hanafel the sage follows, FYI.
Hanafel is an aging retired Grey Sage of Lhankor Mhy, probably about 60 yrs old and not much longer for this world. He is of New Pavic descent, old ties with Sartar. A very non-political businessman. Loves magical gizmos (Magic Lore is his main specialty, at 135%) and probably has plenty of personal "toys" hidden away somewhere.
Tison+Tarranyr haven't worked much with Hanafel and he seems pretty confident, established, and self-sufficient, so you're not sure of much that you can do for him. His only major competition in town is this upstart new wizard Arlaten the White. Hanafel is interested mainly in earning profit thru the identification and sale of magic items, and he funnels the profits to the Lhankor Mhy temple as well as local charities (Chalana Arroy and Teelo Norri), skimming only a small personal profit on most sales. Pretty highly regarded guy. No one really messes with Hanafel; rumor has it that the few thieves and other miscreants that have crossed his path have met foul ends from odd magics.
Most of the items Hanafel gets are from either adventurers that can't/won't use them, adventurers who desparately need money, or families of dead adventurers. Generally, Rubble adventurers keep what they find unless they fit 1+ of those 3 criteria. Hanafel generally only has a few items for sale at a time and these sell quickly. His availability of magic crystals has dwindled in the past few years; rumor has it that the Lunars have a "crystal mine"? Still, he is comfortably (but not grossly) wealthy.
As I recall, the deal is that he'll give you 1/3 of the profits that he turns out from selling items that are initially brought to you by adventurers. You haven't had much business yet so he isn't blown away by your usefulness, but you are on friendly terms. You would surmise that the best you can do for Hanafel is send sellable items his way.
