Caernak asks about the details about what Che'en did with the coders. He needs to know more about Lacuna Morada.
Che'en is very uncomfortable talking about this, and confesses to knowing little about her now, but gives this info:
1. The Coders and Che'en worked together to bring her there, as a heroquest to bind the river and moon closer together.
2. She is of moon and water elements, and has power over both.
3. Che'en does not think that she is violent, but she seems potentially dangerous now that the Coders have fled.
4. He is worried that she might go mad if left alone.
5. He has no idea why the White Moonies have asked him about her, but they're interested and he told them about her.
6. The Coders seemed to be engaged in nurturing her, with the help of other Lunars perhaps. Che'en was left in the dark about this after she was created.
7. Che'en's role was mainly to help create her by providing mythical knowledge and heroquest assistance. After that, he was brushed aside and warned not to interfere.
8. Che'en helped out now and again after she was created with advice, but it didn't teach him anything important about her powers.
9. He thinks that it will be hard to get rid of her. A heroquest might do it. Entering the canal during Sacred Time may be the way into that; that's how he and the Coders began to create her. But he hopes that you can work to undo any bad that the Lunars did, and turn her toward a path useful to the river.
10. He thinks that she has gained ties to the nature of the Canal, relating to Illumination, riddles, puzzles, confusion, pools, prophecies, and water/moon magics.
11. Her personality and essence remain immature, so it might be easier to change her nature. She is young and ill-defined.
Chris: Given that Che'en has been speaking to White Moonies about her, Caernak expects full disclosure, particularly after the half-assed info we were given before we had to go find her. Caernak is willing to accept Che'en's good intentions, but now things have to be done about it. The Left Hand will rule in dealing with Lacuna Morada, and she may yet become a symbol of the River's intent that all live in peace in the Valley. Can Che'en suggest a promising cultist to stay with her?
John: He doesn't know, as he doesn't know her state. You need to visit her sometime soon, this season if possible, to see what is up with her. No one from the river cult has seen her since Lunar downfall. Once her state is assessed, plans could be made. The new priest will likely coordinate those plans.
Chris: Did Che'en learn anything from the White Moonies, or did he just give them information?
John: Nope, just told them where she was. He figured it was a good thing for Lacuna Morada to have someone to talk to, and no one else was available. Plus the Moonies seem very nice, perhaps they'd bring the harmony she needs.
Chris: What can he tell us about entering the PC during Sacred Time?
John: It inevitably leads to heroquesting and should only be undertaken with the utmost care and preparation. One could easily be lost forever. There are no records of how this was ever done properly, but extensive divinations could reveal mythic linkages if it becomes necessary to do this questing.
Chris: It should be clear to Che'en that the time for keeping secrets from us, about the new daughter, has passed. Indeed, once he was taken out of the loop, he probably should have come clean, at least with Caernak. If he made a mistake, he should help clean it up, not cover it up, especially when it can, and will, become a bigger problem if it is ignored. Caernak will do all he can to fix this, but can't help if he doesn't know there's a problem.
John: Che'en says, "I do my best, as always, in the interest of the river. I am telling you what I know, and that is little, as I was not well informed by my Lunar allies. I do not know that there is a problem as yet. I think the best plan is to visit Lacuna Morada when you can, and decide then what to do. There is time, but it is no use making plans in ignorance." He stares off in space in contemplation of the deeper meaning of his last sentence.
