You entered the whirling gateway to The Other Side and found yourselves deep in the Greater Darkness at the Leaping Place, seeing the fires of Oakfed burning the forests of Prax. People greeted you with joy at the coming of the help that they'd requested from Tada. The Eldest One of the people asked you to hunt down and slay broo that threatened the people. You tracked the broo into the flaming forest. Elves ambushed you and things looked grim but Tarranyr's honeyed words convinced their leader that your were not normal torch-bearing humans but served the River, which is not evil. The leader gave Tarranyr a branch from an ash tree that symbolized his friendship with elves and his geas that he would not use fire. This gave you passage through the elf forests.
You found the dozen broos in a village, seeming to carry out normal villager lives. Arcus noticed a foul enslimed well in the center of the village. You killed four broo from ambush and the other pathetic ones surrendered, throwing themselves at your mercy. Caernak purified the well and you gained magics. He also convinced the broos to jump in the river and let Zola Fel settle their fate. It seemed that the well had been tainted with chaos and turned the villagers into broo.
On the way back to the people of Tada you met a torch-bearing band of warriors of Tada, who led a salamander to burn the forests along the riverbank, causing much pollution. Caernak tried to convince them to stop their burning but they were very stubborn (resisted oration with a 3+). Pachala had to challenge the flame-bladed leader of the band to a duel, which Pachala won eventually. The leader conceded to move his burning elsewhere in return for a gift to help them fight chaos. Pachala gave up the water magic he had just gained for this.
You came back to the village and the people gave you what hospitality they could. Pachala quickly retired to a tent, and the women of the town found that Tarranyr and Chingua were happy to join them in their tents for some company. Arcus and Caernak watched the spectacles of the praxian Godtime while the others rested, but then noticed an odd magic flowing from the tents into the tent of the Eldest One. They investigated and saw that he was a horribly ugly demon sucking energy from resting people in the tents! Vampire villagers started coming for you too, but Arcus called forth bright light to hold them back. Arcus fought the Eldest One while Caernak summoned an undine, but unfortunately the cursed strength of the Eldest One slashed Arcus back to the mortal world first. Caernak's undine was very powerful and it smashed the demon. Although the demon cast magics that released the undine from Caernak's control, Caernak talked it into coming back to crush the vampires, which it did easily, then left.
The others awoke from their trances and so did many of the villagers, who were relieved of their chaos curse. They told you of a place where something fell from the sky and thought you might be interested. You checked it out: a crater on a hilltop downriver where a blue glow emanated. Signs of many things investigating the crater and fighting over it. In the center was a large odd egg that had a glowing blue wriggly thing inside, and lots of god bones and blood (metal and crystals). Tarranyr spirit-talked with the egg and found it to be friendly: a sky river servant spirit called Ssrussut the Unscaled. You gathered loot as a huge giant's hand descended on the crater, scooped up its contents, and placed them on the deck of a Cradle! The crystalline hexagon guardians of the Cradle saw that you were not treasures for "the Wandering Prince" and asked your business. Caernak told them flatly who you were. This bored them and they flashed light that woke you up back in the real world.
You were in the salt marshes south of Corflu. The egg hatched into a snaky energy being that became your friend (and seems very useful). Tarranyr caught a mild case of Thunder Lung disease from some leeches before Caernak found the way north and hailed some fishermen to take you to Corflu. There you met Sa'ar at the temple and told your tale. It seems that you found a poorly known, almost forgotten heroquest path that could be re-enacted. As Caernak suspected, it was the path of the first followers of the Cleansed One. You got passage back to Pavis, said hello to lonely Tison on the way north, and finally made it home.
Arcus had appeared on a hilltop field in Sun County (evidently this is the location corresponding to where he was hurt on the quest -- convenient!), clinging to life. Farmers found him but were worried that he was cursed because he still glowed with magic and was badly wounded. They left him for a while before the militia could investigate and he was healed enough to limp home.
At the fort bad news awaited. A Krarshti assassin (the one Chygh maimed) had snuck in when you were in the Black and slew Taleo, biting his head off after befuddling Idylla [I did play this out and that's what happened]. You decided to plan a trap for the Krarshti.
