Arcus pulled the arrow out of Five Eyes and healed Him. The dragon woke up and recited a poem, or riddle, or prophecy or something, about death and glory and stuff. It seemed to be a blessing on Arcus, and the 5 eyes newts said it was a blessing on the fort area that will be important for a future battle. Five Eyes vanished after His speech, and his dnewt guards left.
A group explored a small ruin near the fort. They moved a slab covering a deep stone shaft. Annoying rubble runners attacked while the work was going on; the result is epitomized by Pachala's ?18pt critical hit kick attack to one (field goal!) In other words, you massacred them. The shaft is filled with a viscous grey liquid like motor oil. Tison took a dip in Caernak's undine and found that it led 20m down to 2 doors. The doors were yanked open with ropes, and out came a sinister 4-armed stony creature, a Mostali creation called a Gobbler. Arcus came to kill it, but it whalloped his undine and sent him fleeing. He got a chance to see one of the rooms, a big chamber filled with giant bronze nails hammered into the stone. The shaft appears to be full of lubricant/metal preservative, which keeps armor and such nicely shiny. Thus the Wyrmsjaw Fort people all are glimmering and pretty now. The shaft appears to belong to the Mostali and thus the party did not intrude further.
On to devils playground: While Taleo was chanting to open the door to The Black, a band of trollkin, cave trolls, and a giant spider attacked. Pavis Survivor guards slaughtered the trollkin while you mopped up the others quite easily. Taleo opened the door and down into darkness you crept. One tunnel led to a sheer wall with a tube leading up. Pachala investigated and his arm was pulverized by a big falling rock. Seemed like trolls were up their guarding what may be a tunnel to the Stronglands.
The other tunnel led to a maze of krarshtkid tunnels that was very frustrating. KKs kept jumping out of holes and harassing you with teeth, acid tongues, and webby pratzim. With some keen ears and eyes you found your way through to a cavern, where a bridge crosses a swift stream. It got really dark ahead and Taleo recalled that this was where his party fell on bad times. As he warned you , a second KK maze lay ahead, and it got real dark . Chingua did not like it one bit, not being able to see where to stick his spear. You found one main tunnel that led to a thick morass of KK pratzim webs; seems like it would be a pain to clear that blockade. A second tunnel got much darker, and soon you could only see with Catesye AND Sunbright! You found a terminal chamber with an altar, crates, and a bunch of troll zombies + trollkin skeletons that you destroyed without flinching. But bad luck caught up with you when Tison poured holy water on the altar: the KK ghost that you could see guarding it got really pissed and stripped 3 permanent POW from Tison, then Arcus, before it was whittled down and dispelled by Chingua's Free Ghost spell.
