10-29-1999: The Wyrmsjaw Tunnels

Still looking for an optimum date to play; next Thurs 11/4 is slightly possible but we may have to wait until Sunday 11/14. Further input is welcome.

On the tunnels below Wyrmsjaw, here's what you know at this point from previous explorations: Only 5 tunnels are potentially navigable by man-sized folks; the rest are either too small or are dead ends. What you've seen so far:

1) You recently found a large tunnel hidden behind stalactites and stalagmites in one dark corner of the cavern. It is a tight squeeze to get to. Once there, it is a 2m diameter passage leading down at a gentle slope about 30m... to a big black wall of lead inscribed with Darkness, Death, and Disorder runes. The stamp of Zorak Zoran for sure. You've seen these lead blockades before; trolls use them to seal passages. The Uzko call them "groogaplugragekks;" the people of the Rubble just call them plugs. Opening them is an uz priestess' secret that even troll-friends like Volltain the Black are not privy to. Because the narrow tunnel entrance is impossible for a large troll to pass, you assume that it has been sealed for centuries, perhaps forgotten.

2) A nearby "tunnel" (more of a crack) leads sharply downward. It is about 0.4m high and 0.8m wide. A person 3) A 1m diameter tunnel winds randomly from another side of the cavern for about 35m, then ends in a collapsed dead-end packed with rubble. Otherwise empty.

4) A 1.5 m diameter tunnel meaders for 20m downward, then turns into a 2m square passageway (clearly of dwarven make). This passage leads 10m forward to a smooth stone door, unmarked. Definitely a Flintnail door, so you've left it untouched for now.

None of these passages show any signs of intelligent life passing here recently. Then there's the last one.

5) A 1m diameter tunnel hidden behind a huge column, 5m above the cavern floor. You just discovered this one, too; the cavern hides many odd passages. Luckily someone left a rope dangling from the tunnel entrance, or you might never have found it. It slopes upward gently for at least 20m; you stopped at this point because you recently found a boot print here in the dust (headed down). Was this how the Black Fangs snuck into the fort?
