The party went from the Dyskund area upriver to Queenscliff village in SW Sun County. The milita leader there, Haloric Longfarm, said that the party was ideal for a mission as covert investigators of Black Rock village to the SW. The high priest of the Sun Dome, Gaumata the Strange, had a vision of a village corrupted by evil and further divinations plus searching pointed to Black Rock as the village. You went there, with Caernak and Tarranyr dressed as merchants led by Arcus with the nomads as scouts and Tison wrapped up tightly.
The village seemed OK outwardly but Storm Bulls sensed something wrong. The headman invited the merchants and Arcus into the village for a meager feast. He said there were no problems. The party decided to hike up the nearby cliffs to speak to the village shaman the next morning. She had left but was tracked far to the SW; Dorgon and Pachala trailed her as the others returned to check out the village more.
Some talking to the ~100 villagers revealed a few odd things:
1. All of the girls were named Visla.
2. There were only 6 elders, all senile, stupid, and/or insane.
3. There were no children aged 14-17.
4. The militia leader was 18 and an idiot, his father had died earlier that year.
5. The kids play very rough.
D+P found the shaman far away in the hills. She was in a trance for the first night, then came back awake and muttered to them. Dorgon spotted a powerful spirit nearby suddenly, and Pachala sensed chaos then. They had a hard time getting the shaman to say much, but she said that the village had a great shame and nothing could be done. She seemed to be trying to fight or ward off the evil spirit, which left after a while. D+P got frustrated with her eventually.
The party rendezvous-ed at the clifftop and soon were alerted by the headman's son Varloz (who was fixated on Arcus as a role model) that a dozen or so broo had raided the sheep pens. You rushed down the cliffs to chase the broo (who had raped a few sheep) and D+P tracked them east along the cliff walls for days, killing a couple of wild goat broo.
The village was upset at the occurrence, which was very rare. Arcus told the headman (Fethal) his true story and convinced Fethal to sacrifice for a divination from Yelmalio about the village and about a lake prophecized in Gaumata's dream (there was supposed to be no lake nearby). You waited around for Fethal to do the ritual and talked to more folks. Fethal said that he recieved a vision of a village filled with broos led by a shaman. He thought the village was Weis and the shaman was one of Muriah's. But Arcus was still bothered by the Storm Bull's encounter with the shaman and their bad feeling about the village, so you stayed to investigate.
Caernak and Tison headed west along the cliff wall, warned by a farmer that the trail was treacherous and narrow above the valley floor. They avoided a small avalanche that was triggered by children "playing" on the cliffs above, as Tison found out. Miles away, they found a hidden barn, giant hazia field, and a willow tree by a pond that had been formed by the damming of a creek ("Gone Creek", which had "dried up" 20 years ago causing the downstream village of Dry Market to go bust). Oh boy.
Back in town, Arcus criticalled his Scan roll and noticed Fethal leading the full armed militia off in the direction that T+C went. He brought Tarranyr and followed, despite their orders to stay back. At the narrows where T+C avoided the avalanche, a gang of 12 children attacked them, using lots of battle magic! Arcus and Tarranyr killed or scared them off, but had lost some time to the militia unit ahead of them.
Back at the field, T+C searched a bit before they saw the militia coming. The militia shouted for them to surrender, but T+C fled into the hazia fields to hide. As they were hidden a chaotic jack-o-bear crept up on them and paralyzed them, carried them off to the barn where they were hung up on meathooks in the darkness as ogre children giggled about how they'd eat them, or whether they'd save them for "The Mistress."
T+A saw the militia moving to the fields and hurried to the barn. The door was trapped with a logfall but they dodged it. Inside were human carcasses hanging from the rafters, bales of hazia, and lots of stored weapons/travelling gear. Plus T+C paralyzed! Tarranyr started to cut them down while Arcus confronted some of the militia that had stayed behind by the barn. He disabled and killed all four of them (including the idiot village militia captain) very easily, but then was paralyzed by something snuffling around in the barn. Tarranyr saw this and snuck around in the loft. He saw more militia coming from the loft window. He heard something climbing up the ladder to the loft, and when he saw the jack-o-bear's head he split it wide open with Magasta's Wrath! The others were freed! You did a quick search of the barn, finding 2 ogre children one of which you captured.
The militia was coming and Arcus yelled to them that the gig was up and they should surrender. This created even more fear among the village men and Fethal could not rouse them to fight, so Fethal challenged Arcus to a death duel. Fethal seemed to be committed to die, badly wounding Arcus before he was knocked out himself and was captured. The militia men surrendered, their wills broken.
You searched the barn, finding caches of coins and weapons and evil-looking fetishes/mojos/talismans. You rounded up the prisoners and headed back to the village, where you found P+D waiting and the children had all left, leaving just the women and elders. You did some interrogation with the Storm Bulls. All of the babies were ogres but the adults were normal, perhaps just living in denial. Fethal's hut had some gruesome torture equipment hidden in it, plus hexes carved there and in the Yelmalio temple. There was a magic dagger and necklace hidden there, too.
