Formatting and Draw Toolbars

Open the Formatting and Draw Toolbars
     View, Toolbar, Formatting toolbar/Draw Toolbar
     Explore the formatting toolbar/Draw Toolbar
     Add buttons or remove buttons
     Pass cursor over each item to get a definition
     Arrange toolbars on window
            Click on vertical line, drag to desired location
 
Draw and Place Textboxes (Create a nameplate like the example)
From drawing toolbar choose the textbox tool
Draw a text box approximately 1�X4� (like above)
Type your first name in Comic Sans 72 point, bold, italic
Click and drag the box to fit your name (the small direction squares on the border of the textbox).
Do the same for your last name. Drag this textbox until the first letter of your last name is under the last letter of your last name. Get close!

Remove fill and line from textboxes.
Select the �first name� textbox. Under Format, choose Textbox
In the format textbox dialogue box select the color and line tab. Under fill choose no fill under line choose no line. Close.
Repeat for the last name textbox.

Group textboxes together
Select one of the textboxes by clicking on it. With the first textbox selected, hold down your shift key and select the other.
On the draw toolbar choose the down arrow by the word draw, select group.

Draw a graphic line under your name
On the draw toolbar use the line tool to draw a line like the one in the example.
Select the line. Under Format choose, Autoshape. Change the line size to 6 point. Change the color to your favorite color. Close.

Insert a heart to the left of your name
On the drawing toolbar choose autoshape. Select basic shapes, choose the heart shape.
Draw, place and size the heart.

Fill the heart with red color.  (Format, Autoshape, Color and line tab, Fill color red)

Place the boarder around the page
Under Format choose Boarder and shading.
In the boarder and shading dialogue box choose the custom option. Under Art select the heart border.


Can you figure out how to create your graduation year using a text box? Hint center the text and change the color to white.

On your own
After you have completed the "Shaun Zinn" name plate. Create six more name plates for six different people. Be sure to follow the instructions above. Use different clip art and borders. Be sure to include a text box filled with a dark color which includes white letters (like the graduation year).

Save as: DTPIntro2, DTPIntro3, DTPIntro4, DTPIntro5, DTPIntro6
