My Supercharged 1987 Firebird Formula 350


11.67 @ 118.57 MPH

My 1987 Formula Firebird 350 runs the quarter mile in 11.67(seconds)@118.6 mph. Power is provided by the factory original Chevrolet 350 V8 with TPI (Tuned Port Injection) force fed by a Paxton supercharger. This car is lots of fun to race on Mustang day, at Raceway park in Englishtown, NJ. Many Mustang owners under estimate this car. I also like to take the car to local car shows, and drive it around town. Here is a time slip of my Formula. My car is the car listed on the left-hand side of the slip; the car on the right-hand side was an 87 Mustang GT, Automatic trans, with very loud mufflers.

Here is a list of the modifications I performed on my Formula:

87 FORMULA 350 (hard top) TPI Auto PW PDL AC Tilt Cruise Deluxe int.(basicly everyting but t-tops)

Owned since new, has 17K miles now

Ran 14.69 @ 93.07 stock with 900 miles on it at 3850 Lbs (Much faster now)!

PAXTON SN89 supercharger 7Lbs.Max. at discharge tube.

Edelbrock TPI base and runners

Accel/Lingenfelter: 58mm Throttle Body, Cam 211/219 .537"/.560"

Accel/DFI: Power Processor to program fuel&spark and record data, 30Lb Accel/Bosch Fuel Injectors

Bosch inline fuel pump and stock in-tank pump, stock fuel lines

MSD 6AL w/5600 RPM limit and blaster3 coil

Crane 1.6 roller rockers

AirFlow Research Aluminum Heads, 190cc w/68cc chambers to lower compression to approx. 8.5:1

Hooker Super Comp Headers into homemade Y-pipe into Banks single exhaust. Very deciving!

Stock original short block V8 (never rebuilt!)

Original trans with B&M shiftkit (I installed it in my driveway)

SLP Torque Converter 2400 RPM

12 Bolt Rear, 3.73 gears, Custom made by A&D Auto in NJ

Southside liftbars (original short ones) frame connectors and driveshaft loop

Lakewood rear Drag shocks, stock struts front, no sway-bars, but the lift-bars limit sway.

Autopower Bolt-in Roll Cage with NHRA mandated side bar & window net which I welded in myself.

Has original interior, with power everything.

M & H 275/60-15 DOT tires #20 compound on 15x8 Dragstars

MT sportsman front tires on 15x3.5 Dragstars

Reduced weight to 3550 Lbs with driver now.

Has Harwood cowl hood and smaller rear spoiler now (not shown in the above picture)
