| Offensive Player of the Week (3/31 - 4/6) vi NGUYEN You can call him the Flying Vi, or Vi-Tar, or the Far East Phantom...but against Our Last Name was Taken on April 6th, Nguyen earned himself the title of leading scorer. Draining 14 points without the help of a 3-point line, Nguyen took charge on offense, hitting 7 of 12 shots from the floor. His speed and agility created several opportunities for others as well; in addition to his team-leading 14 points, Nguyen added 2 offensive rebounds, an assist, and 4 steals. His ability to drive through the lane and around the defense caused fits for the opponents, from start to end. Defensive Player of the Week (3/31 - 4/6) chris HARISIS and larry PENNEY-FURINO (tie) What's the first step to stopping a high-potential offense? Well how about playing two six-footers in the paint? Harisis and Penney-Furino turned back several Our Last Name was Taken opportunities, and in doing so, ensured a fourth straight win for the Outlaws. Both Harisis and Penney-Furino registered 12 rebounds, seven defensive, as well as a pair of steals. Penney-Furino also chipped in with a blocked shot. As the game wore on, both six-footers excelled in dominating the paint and denying any comeback chances by the opponents. Sixth Man of the Week (3/31 - 4/6) mike GRATTON So what sort of an impact did Gratton have in the game against Our Last Name was Taken? Try 10 points, a team-leading five assists, and four defensive rebounds. Now imagine the impact Gratton would have had if only he had started the game. After missing the entire first half, Gratton entered the game when the Outlaws were trailing by two, and spurred a 30-10 second half to ensure another victory. Using his ability to find the open man and hit the open shot, Gratton provided a much-needed spark to the team on both sides of the court. |
